SPEEDY J unleashes a relentless charge of hypnotically percussive technological sounds to the roaring crowd at Time Warp Holland. Visuals by VJ Stivo

Speedy J

After fifteen years of techno Speedy J has come full circle. He's making techno again. But what a wide circle it was, and how fickle the trodden path. Over the years he has collaborated with video-artists, filmmakers and advertisers, made the pioneering DVD Umfeld and has continuously been pushing the boundaries of electronic & experimental dance music. "I just constantly want to do new things," he explains. Most recently this has been exemplified in his new label Electric Deluxe, which will issue digital releases only.

I'm a big fan of Speedy's productions as well as EDLX records but the whole mix is very monotonous. Armstrong is a sick track and nice to see him drop (bits of) it but the 1/4 beat loop mixing on four decks obscured by walls of effects is pretty transparent and uninspiring. Richie is much better at using this kind of setup. Anyways good to see Dutch girls like techno! More so than North America of course

Maybe, that's what is monotonous ! I'm sorry about my english, i'm french...

Sorry but this does nothing for me. Seems the guy is wanking on his Traktor setup playing to an audience too drugged out to know the difference. Either you're a DJ or you're an electronic artist. Shouldn't try to be both IMHO. Technology has given us many great possibilities for mixing but this just lacks any trace of soul or groove to me. And folks - you can't have a track list where you barely have tracks to begin with. I think you're asking for a loop-list, not a track list LOL.
